Your Medical Alarm Unit will have a back-up battery which keeps the service functional during power outages. Once your power is restored, this battery will recharge to be ready for the next power disruption. There is no need for an annual replacement of the battery.

If you are choosing a system for a parent or grandparent, be sure that the person who will actually be using the Medical Alert knows how it works. They need to leave the base plugged in and turned on, and wear the jewelry at all times. Both of these things are required to summon help when needed from your Medical Alert.
